History

Edward Cooper Our history dates back to 1886, when Edward Cooper established his own company in Montevideo, Uruguay. Ten years later, on the 15th January 1896, he was appointed “Lloyd’s Agent” in Montevideo. In 1911, four of his sons founded “Edward Cooper & Sons” in Buenos Aires, which received the Lloyd’s Agency appointment in 1922.

In 1928, this company was renamed “Cooper Brothers” and the Lloyd´s Agency appointment for Argentina has been retained to this day.

Edward Cooper & Sons Building on the experience acquired in the handling of marine claims and surveys and the adjustment of cargo losses, we have developed into a fully-fledged international loss adjusting and surveying company, handling a wide variety of claims in other fields, including Operational All Risks, Construction & Engineering, Business Interruption, Liability (all classes), Aviation, and Financial Lines.

Similarly, from our present base in Buenos Aires, Argentina, we have extended our geographical coverage and now have offices in Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay.

Our Buenos Aires office continues being part of the prestigious global network of Lloyd’s Agents, originally established in 1811, and which currently consists of approximately 500 Agents and Sub-Agents located in 175 countries around the world, who provide 24-hour year-round services to the global insurance industry and its customers.
